Commercial Auto Claims Specialist – IAT Insurance Group is looking for an experienced Claims Specialist who can be located in one of the following offices:
- Alpharetta, Georgia
- Virginia Beach, Virginia
- Cheshire, Connecticut
- Scottsdale, Arizona
- Naperville, Illinois
- Rolling Meadows, Illinois
- Omaha, Nebraska
- St. Petersburg, Florida
- Raleigh, North Carolina
This role will handle complex commercial trucking claims covering the entire United States. The Claims Specialist is responsible for investigating the extent of the company's liability and will handle injury claims from inception through conclusion, including attorney‑represented and litigation cases.
Responsibilities- Handle complex, high‑exposure commercial auto claims.
- Present cases to senior management for reserving and direction, as required by claim guidelines. Verify and analyze applicable coverage for the reported loss.
- Evaluate, negotiate, and authorize settlements with all stakeholders within designated authority.
- Select, direct, and manage vendors/counsel, including approval of defense budgets.
- Maintain resident/non‑resident adjuster licenses as required.
- Travel as required to handle catastrophic claims, attend mediations, and settlement conferences.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Must Have
- High school degree or GED with 5+ years of relevant claims experience.
- Insurance licenses to comply with state and IAT requirements.
- Experience handling commercial claims.
- Experience handling bodily injury claims.
- Appropriate claims license.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Experience handling third‑party claims.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for internal and external communication.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Ability to set priorities and multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require visa sponsorship.
Preferred to Have
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience working in task‑based claims systems.
- Considerable experience handling litigated bodily injury claims.
- Completion of AIC, CPCU, or other similar program.
The annual gross salary range for this position is $47,230–$102,780. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base salary. The total compensation package includes a base salary, performance‑based bonus opportunities, 401(k) match, profit‑sharing opportunities, and more. Actual salaries vary based on factors such as qualifications, skills, competencies, and geographic location.
