LocationRemote work available with occasional in‑person meetings and trainings within a reasonable driving distance of Newport News, VA.
Responsibilities- Provide consulting services to the management team and others in the law department on potential or preventative commercial issues.
- Select, handle and coordinate company assistance with external counsel.
- Provide regular reporting on the status of litigation matters, including developing and reporting on key benchmarks and financial metrics.
- Review legal documents, pleadings, correspondence to court and case parties; determine filing needs and direct local counsel to maintain overall case strategy.
- Attend key events in litigation such as depositions, mediation, settlement conferences and trials.
- Conduct internal investigations and prepare responses to third parties.
- Increase the effectiveness of legal services through preventative action, early identification and resolution of potential issues and disputes.
- Communicate effectively, maintaining professional, collegial, and productive relationships with associates, witnesses, attorneys, and external partners.
- Law degree from an ABA‑accredited law school and membership in a state bar in good standing.
- Minimum five (5) years total credited experience, preferably in a law firm or private corporation with oversight of commercial litigation and/or product liability, and asbestos litigation experience a plus.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and apply regulations and policies to daily situations.
- Travel as needed, including visits to Ferguson's corporate offices.
- Poise and ability to communicate to groups, including training programs.
- Ability to argue the Company’s position persuasively to third parties, including attorneys, investigative agencies and auditors.
- Logical reasoning in confrontational situations and ability to focus and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work well independently.
- PC literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Estimated ranges displayed are monthly for salaried roles or hourly for all other roles. This role is bonus or incentive plan eligible.
