Proposal Writer​/Marketing Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking a Proposal Writer / Marketing Specialist to join our Business Development and Marketing team. This role blends proposal writing, pursuit management, and marketing strategy. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can develop compelling proposals, craft persuasive messaging, and support campaigns that drive S.B. Ballard’s growth.

• Responsible for the creation of high-quality, tailored proposals in response to RFPs and RFQs.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts, operations, and leadership to develop winning narratives.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, accuracy, and timely submissions.
• Develop polished interview materials, presentations, and supporting visuals.
• Manage multiple proposals and pursuits simultaneously under tight deadlines.

• Assist in the development and execution of annual marketing plans and campaigns.
• Maintain brand consistency in proposals, presentations, and collateral.
• Collaborate with design teams to develop graphics, layouts, and visual aids.
• Support targeted marketing initiatives to strengthen market presence.
• Conduct market research, analyze trends, and provide input on pursuit strategies.

• Craft clear, persuasive content across marketing and business development materials.
• Track proposal and campaign performance, providing insights for continuous improvement.
• Support business development efforts through event participation and client engagement.

• 4+ years of experience in proposal writing, marketing, or communications (AEC industry strongly preferred).
• Strong knowledge of construction terminology, delivery methods, and contract types.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint required).
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and collaboration tools (Teams, SharePoint) preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Must reside within commuting distance of Virginia Beach, VA (on-site role).
