ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary:
Provide assistance and support to the Chief Nursing Officer in the management and support of the Nursing Department and supervise its staff. Assist in providing 24‑hour management of the nursing service and in directing and supervising nursing department activities and functions. Develop, maintain, and modify program policy and procedure parameters for quality assurance. Ensure the unit milieu remains therapeutic, physically safe, and secure.
Assess, plan, implement, conduct, and evaluate nursing care rendered to patients. Consult routinely with the Chief Nursing Officer, Administrator, and Medical Director as needed. Keep abreast of social, economic, legal issues, Commonwealth of Virginia Mental Health Code, ANA, HCFA, OSHA, and TJC rules, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to the delivery of behavioral health care.
Candidates must be available to work weekends, holidays, and on‑call shifts.
Qualifications- Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the state of employment.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- 3–5 years of related work experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices.
- Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others’ activities with demonstrated leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment.
