Brief Description
The Virginia Beach Field House is Virginia’s premier indoor sports facility. We offer leagues, camps, clinics, and tournaments for youth and adults in various sports. The Virginia Beach Field House has 6 turf fields, 8 regulation volleyball courts, 4 basketball courts, and other facilities. Guests are encouraged to visit our fully stocked food court and lounge.

The Virginia Beach Field House is currently seeking Lawn Care/Grounds Crew team members. The lawn care/grounds crew is a part-time position (5 - 15 hours per week) responsible for the upkeep and care of the Virginia Beach Field House property. Duties include mowing, trimming, seeding, weeding, spraying, cleaning, and basic landscaping.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Cut and maintain lawn using hand, power or riding mower and trim/edge around walks, flower beds, trees, and walls
• Landscape flower beds, parking islands, shrubs, bushes, and walkways
• Apply weed killer and fertilizer as needed
• Assist with maintaining walkways and parking lot around sand volleyball courts
• Rake, mulch, and prune as needed
• Blow off debris from walkways and parking lot
• Remove trash from lawn and parking lot
• Remove snow from walkways as needed

Requirements

• Familiarity with typical lawn care equipment
• Integrity and ability to work independently
• Perform related duties as required
• Ability to understand and follow oral directions
• Required to successfully pass a background check related to this position
• Perform duties under general supervision
• Ability to work weekends, day and evening shifts, and holidays
• Work is routine and involves the use of some skills acquired by experience or on the job instruction
• Ability to manage and accurately track material resources and time, as well as adapt to changing work priorities
• Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, and common sense skills

Physical Requirements
Employee must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance in outside weather conditions including heat/humidity and cold/wind:

• Maneuvering in and around the worksite
• Standing and walking
• Bending, kneeling, reaching, and stooping
• Lifting up to 50 pounds
• Pushing or pulling objects such as lawn mowers, blowers, weed wackers, etc.
• Grasping both small & large objects
