Excavator Equipment Operator - Underground Utilities

Trident Civil is hiring full‑time Excavator Equipment Operators to work on underground utilities projects in the Hampton Roads area, including Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Portsmouth, and Hampton.

• Operate excavator and bulldozer equipment safely, ensuring no damage to crew, materials, or existing improvements.
• Check equipment fluids daily and maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Assist ground crew when specific skill isn’t needed that day.
• Report any damaged or lost tools and equipment to the Superintendent or Foreman.
• Abide by safety and security regulations and maintain grade using lasers, levels, transits, string lines, etc.
• Prepare for work daily by setting out tools and equipment needed.
• Return tools to proper storage area at the end of the day.

• Valid driver's license (preferred).
• Experience operating an excavator: 2 years (required).
• Heavy equipment operation: 2 years (preferred).
• Underground Utility Construction: 2 years (preferred).
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and push/pull/carry heavy objects.
• Capability to work full time with possible overtime and occasional Saturday work.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time (preferred).
