Support Services of Virginia (SSVA) is seeking compassionate individuals, couples, and families in Hampton Roads, Williamsburg, York County, Gloucester, Mathews, Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Poquoson, Accomack County, Northampton County, and surrounding communities to become Sponsored Residential Providers.
This opportunity allows providers to welcome an adult with intellectual and developmental disabilities into their home while providing a stable, supportive, and family‑style environment. Providers help individuals work toward personal goals, develop greater independence, participate in community life, and build meaningful relationships.
Sponsored Residential Providers can earn approximately $48,000-$124,000 per year
, depending on the support needs of the individual(s) served and applicable program funding levels.
Sponsored payments are issued biweekly
.
- Maintaining a safe, stable, and welcoming home
- Supporting daily living skills, personal goals, and greater independence
- Encouraging community involvement and meaningful relationships
- Helping individuals become active participants in their communities
- Working with SSVA to provide individualized support
- Creating a supportive home environment that considers compatibility, lifestyle, and shared interests
- Required training at no cost
- Assistance with the certification and licensing process
- Ongoing guidance from an experienced SSVA team
- 24/7 on-call assistance
- Biweekly sponsored payments
Applicants must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Be active and engaged in their local community
- Have at least six months of personal or professional experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities
- Be comfortable using technology and electronic documentation systems
If you do not currently meet the experience requirement, you may have an opportunity to gain qualifying experience through employment with SSVA.
