A VBLS First-Year Lifeguard has not worked for VBLS in the past, and will be considered a member of the VBLS class of 2026.
The purpose of Virginia Beach Lifesaving Service, Inc., is to prevent and to reduce injuries, accidents, and fatalities at the ocean front in its guarded and patrolled areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES of a VBLS Lifeguard.Must be 16 years of age.
Swim 500 Meter (or 550 Yard Swim) in 10 minutes or less
Must provide proof of health.
Must complete training or provide proof of certification for American Heart Association BLS, Red Cross CPR for First Responders, or ASHI BLS.
Must complete training or provide proof of certification of ASHI Advanced First Aid, Emergency Responder, or Emergency Medical Technician.
Must complete all prescribed training and paperwork prior to working.
The purpose of Virginia Beach Lifesaving Service, Incorporated is to prevent and reduce injuries, accidents, and fatalities at the ocean front in its guarded and patrolled areas.
