Position Title: Cost Accountant
Location: Ashburn, VA — On-site
Assignment Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: $75,000 – $93,000 annually
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

Job DescriptionWe are seeking two Cost Accountants to support a rapidly growing organization in managing project‑related financial activity. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive in a fast‑paced, operations‑focused environment and enjoy partnering closely with project teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
The Cost Accountant will be responsible for reviewing project costs, ensuring proper documentation, supporting project billing cycles, and maintaining strong internal controls. This individual will collaborate regularly with project managers, operations, and accounting team members to ensure financial accuracy across multiple active projects.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare, review, and analyze project cost data to support accurate financial reporting and billing.
- Assist in developing and processing project pay applications in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Audit and verify accounts payable invoices, purchase orders, packing slips, and other source documents for accuracy.
- Review and validate payroll‑related data for project billing, including certified payroll reporting.
- Ensure all employee timesheets and related time documentation are accurate and approved.
- Create and maintain Excel‑based financial reports and workbooks used for project tracking and consolidation.
- Uphold compliance with internal accounting practices, standards, and relevant federal/state regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll and financial information.
- Support project teams with ad hoc reporting and respond to timeline‑sensitive requests as needed.
- Participate in operational collaboration and communicate effectively with cross‑functional stakeholders.
- 3–5+ years of cost or project accounting experience (construction industry experience preferred).
- Strong Excel skills, including report creation and data manipulation.
- Ability to manage detailed financial documentation and identify discrepancies.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with field and office personnel.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related business field preferred but not required.
