Architectural Review Board Appointment

The Position

The Town of Strasburg is seeking community-minded applicants to serve on the Architectural Review Board. This is an opportunity to contribute to the community’s future by participating in decisions that shape the character and quality of life in Strasburg.

During their term, an Architectural Review Board member will play an active role in maintaining the historic districts character by reviewing applications for substantially maintenance and construction of structures are compliant with the historic district zoning requirements and the Strasburg Historic District Design Guidelines (SHDDG). These responsibilities include evaluating proposed maintenance of a structure when like for like replacement is not proposed, new construction, and demolition of structures within the historic district.

• Architectural Review Board member appointments are accepted as a four-year term.
• This position is for an appointment to a vacant position in which the term runs through the 2026 calendar year. After the term is completed, the Town Council may agree to reappoint the commissioner for another term.
• All members of the ARB shall be Town residents and shall have a demonstrated interest, competence, or knowledge in historic preservation.
• All members must be available to attend the required meetings. Standard meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month. Special meetings may be scheduled for specific needs.

• Ideal candidates will demonstrate an interest in helping maintain the historic districts for and feel of the structures as maintenance and construction is proposed, with preferred experience in historic structures, to include maintenance, construction, and historical significance of building facades.
