Director of Music Ministry

Overview

Crooks Memorial United Methodist Church, located in Yorktown, Virginia, is currently seeking candidates for the part-time position of Director of Music Ministry.

• Leading the Chancel Choir, ensembles or soloists for Sunday worship or other special services.
• Providing organ and piano accompaniment for worship, weddings, funerals or other special services.
• Collaborates with the Pastor for the selection of hymns and musical offerings that are compatible with the type of service, sermon topic and the season of the church year.
• Conducts weekly choir rehearsals and encourages participation in choir, ensembles and solo offerings.
• Responsible for development of annual music budget and proper use of funds when selecting vocal/instrumental music, supplies and care for instruments.
• Catalogs/maintains music and draws from music library for Choir use.

• $25,000 - $30,000/year – based on experience
• Paid Vacation: 2 Sundays/year (after 6 months employment)
• Paid Sick Leave: 5 Sundays or rehearsals/year

Note:

Willing to split role in order to consider candidates for separate positions of Music Director and Accompanist

• Demonstrated abilities in directing, rehearsing and leading musical groups.
• Proficiency in playing piano and organ.
• Prior experience leading the music program in a local church (minimum of 5-10 years).
• Strong inter-personal, communication and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of and experience with varied styles of music and composers.
• Christian faith and relationship with Jesus Christ.
