Be a Host Family to a High School Exchange Student

Education Travel & Culture (ETC) provides inbound program opportunities for high school students worldwide to study in an American high school and live with an American family. ETC partners with the U.S. Department of State to place high‑school foreign exchange students on a J‑1 visa in the USA.

• Ensure a safe and nurturing home environment for the student
• Provide a room and a private bed (shared with a similarly aged host sibling, if applicable)
• Serve 3 meals per day
• Arrange transportation to and from school and extracurricular activities
• Offer love, support, and guidance throughout the student’s stay
• Explore cultural differences and similarities together
• Accept families with or without children

• Travel from a variety of countries, ages 14-18
• Have good English skills
• Are highly screened and brought their own spending money and health insurance
• Are excited to meet and live with an American family

• Learn a new culture by tasting new foods, listening to new music, and speaking a new language
• Share your culture with an exchange student
• Add a new member to your family
• Help an exchange student receive an American education and a life‑changing experience
