Upper School Teacher- Language Arts

Under the general supervision of the Head of School and the daily supervision of the Principal, the Language Arts Teacher will oversee the day-to-day Biblically-grounded academic instruction and discipleship of his/her students. This individual will serve as a minister of Christ in all activities performed as an employee of Cornerstone Christian Academy/Cornerstone Chapel. The Language Arts Teacher will influence positive, God-honoring student behavior, and plan, organize, and implement effective instructional programs based on curriculum guidelines while accurately assessing student performance.

The Language Arts Teacher will ensure that all students are instilled with a Biblical worldview and supervised in a safe and loving learning environment that fosters spiritual, social and intellectual development. As a Christian role model for his/her students, the Language Arts Teacher must exhibit patience, grace, humility and integrity when working with administration, faculty, students and parents. The Language Arts Teacher must have a strong, active and committed relationship with Jesus Christ, a willingness to lead with a humble heart, a passion for Christian education, and a calling to serve at Cornerstone Christian Academy.

He or she will seek to perform all duties as unto the Lord, relying on the Holy Spirit for guidance, and completing all tasks with excellence.

Candidates for this position must be capable of teaching Language Arts courses for high and/or middle school. Preference will be given to candidates capable of teaching all levels of high school Language Arts, such as English, Speech, Creative Writing, Publications, and/or Research.

• Bachelor’s Degree or Master's required from an accredited college or university

• Two or more years of classroom teaching experience and/or preparation in Biblically-centered academic instruction preferred
• Experience implementing curriculum

• A valid teaching credential/certificate/license for corresponding age/grade level is preferred

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively and tactfully communicate with leadership, peers, faculty, students, parents, volunteers and the external community
• Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, and methodology of effective teaching

• Must be skilled at current educational technology and its applications within the school, and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point

• Able to stand and walk for a majority of the day; speak and hear clearly; operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment; reach with hands and arms, bend, stoop and twist; and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Able to walk up and down stairs

• Faithfully attends a local, Bible-believing church that has a statement of faith in agreement with CCA’s Articles of Faith
• Is deeply committed to a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ
• Able to recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children’s education and prepared to assist them in that task
• Able to manage everyday stress with objectivity and optimism
• Adheres to high ethical standards and exemplifies Christian behavior in attitude, speech and actions towards others
