Location: Christchurch

Our Chalk River location is looking for a R&D Technologist to support our Inspection and Monitoring Technologies branch. What will you be doing!
  • Applying of non-destructive evaluation (NDE) technology and work on multiple projects each year.
  • Selecting, specifying, recommending, testing, and operating equipment.
  • Assembling racks and panels according to the Ontario ESA Code.
  • Designing and performing specialized tests including design and construction of experimental testing apparatus and data acquisition equipment.
  • Mechanical designing, building of test rigs, and simple mechanical devices.
  • Assembling and testing electromagnetic probe coils and associated parts.
  • Procuring parts, equipment, and services.
  • Preparing job hazard analysis documentation.
  • Following existing procedures and developing new procedures.
  • Performing and/or supervising laboratory work and documenting results.
  • Supporting proposal initiation, preparing work plans, project management, progress reporting, and writing of reports and procedures.
  • Travelling to reactor sites for inspection campaigns as a Nuclear Energy Worker.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
  • Education
    • Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology in electrical or mechanical engineering technology, or related discipline.
    • Canadian General Standards Board Certification in one or more fields of NDE would be an asset.
  • Experience
    • Experience in the use of bench top instruments.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Knowledge of NDE in general is desirable.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to deal with internal and external clients.
    • A high degree of motivation and the ability to handle the competing demands of multiple assignments are essential.
    • Knowledge of electronic equipment, networking and data manipulation is required.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's Standard on Security Screening and the Policy on Government Security.
