Lead Mechanical Engineer – Eaton
Location: Moon Township, PA (Eaton facility), hybrid work schedule. Relocation assistance available for qualified USA residents.
SalaryExpected annual salary range: $93,750.03 - $. This is a general guideline; final compensation depends on skills, experience, and market considerations.
What You’ll Do- Develop strong technical knowledge in power electronic-based circuit breaker mechanical design, testing, and applications.
- Efficiently design, build, test, evaluate, and iterate prototyped mechanical systems and electro‑mechanical circuit protection devices in relevant lab environments.
- Drive product design from concept to a minimum viable product that can be lab‑validated and demonstrated to customers.
- Use statistical quality tools to establish performance baselines, identify focus areas for robustness improvement, and measure improvement.
- Leverage component and system level modeling/simulation activities, initiating changes into existing and new component designs.
- Compile, study, reconcile, and approve product requirements and standards, leading team‑based product conceptual and detailed design, validation, and documentation.
- Follow Prelaunch and PROLaunch phase‑gate new product development processes.
- Create product technical requirements with marketing and application teams.
- Generate and execute test programs and test protocols to confirm design criteria for system, software, and hardware are met.
- Collaborate with Eaton Research Lab, Electrical Sector Center of Excellence, and external technology resources (National Labs and Universities) for innovation.
- Create technical reports and presentations.
- Generate value‑added intellectual property.
- Mentor, assign tasks, and determine priorities for project team members as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related accredited field.
- Five (5) years of experience in new product design, development, testing, and optimization within a manufacturing organization.
- Three (3) years of design experience using Pro‑E/Creo, Solid Works, or similar CAD tools.
- Candidates must not require immigration sponsorship or support;

- Two (2) years of hands‑on experience in magnetic actuation development, design, prototyping, and testing.
- Knowledge of industrial circuit breaker design, requirements, and applications.
- Strong understanding of switching mechanisms, thermal management, and magnetics optimization.
- Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DC/AC power supplies, capacitor bank test systems, and high‑speed video cameras.
- Experience with DFSS tools.
