Job Schedule: Shift: 9/80 – Employees work 9 out of every 14 days, totaling 80 hours, with every other Friday off
Job Description: Propulsion / Rocket Test Engineers work with customers, program managers and project engineers to define test objectives and determine methods and instrumentation for propulsion systems and rocket motors. They create plans and procedures for safe testing, using existing facilities or designing new tools.
Essential Functions- Test Planning (40%) – Develop test methods, instrumentation and tooling; interface with design and project engineering; ensure compliance with customer and government regulations.
- Test Execution (30%) – Conduct and oversee test operations, handling hardware setup, calibration, controls, and software; may coordinate subcontractors at off‑site facilities.
- Documentation and Reviews (20%) – Prepare technical documents, safety reviews, and test readiness reviews.
- Project Management (10%) – Manage cost and schedule; coordinate planning and estimates.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (preferred) with at least 4 years of related experience, or a graduate degree with 2 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, 8 years of related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills- Active DoD clearance.
- Knowledge of fundamental engineering principles: statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, basic electrical theory.
- Experience with engineering software: 3D CAD (Creo, NX), analytical software (Matlab, Python).
- Proficient in MS Office for generating procedures and presentations.
- Effective communication skills.
- Team collaboration in a diverse environment.
- Interpretation and compliance with company safety, health & environmental procedures.
- Experience measuring physical parameters in laboratory/test environments.
- Experience with pneumatic or steam pressure systems.
