Senior Design Engineer

Position Summary

Lead, evaluate, design, and engineer projects and systems to specification on projects ranging from new design/build to rehabilitation of existing facilities and systems. Provide ongoing technical guidance and engineering issue resolution as needed.

• Serve as design professional at project team design meetings
• Prepare complex preliminary redline design layouts for estimating
• Perform more complex calculations (e.g., heating/cooling loads, equipment selection, sizing, friction loss, hydraulic calculations)
• Conduct site inspections to determine compliance with construction documents and resolve design issues during construction
• Supervise less‑experienced engineers in HVAC, fire protection, and other system design and document production for small and large projects

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
• PE License required
• 8+ years of experience, including lead experience
• Excellent knowledge of applicable systems design (fire suppression, HVAC, plumbing, etc.) and general understanding of system operations
• Ability to read complex mechanical and plumbing plans
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong public speaking/presentation skills
• Excellent computer skills, including CAD and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
