Mechanical Designer III

Location: Dulles

** Position Summary*
* Designer roles encompass the design and implementation of building systems and structures, including specialties such as fire protection, plumbing, HVAC and other mechanical disciplines.

** Position Details*
* + Prepares complex calculations, drawings, and technical specifications for large-scale design

+ projects.

+ Completes calculations, drawings, and specifications related to the assigned disciplines for large projects, ensuring alignment with project standards and requirements.

+ Oversees the entire lifecycle of large projects, including layout development, permit procurement, field surveys, coordination, creation of fabrication lists, responding to field-generated questions, RFI creation, as-builts, and other required documentation and submissions.

+ Supports change order processes by providing accurate and timely project information.

+ Provides technical guidance to less experienced team members, responds to team and field inquiries, and ensures quality, documentation accuracy, and schedule compliance.

+ Monitors project design budgets and collaborates effectively across teams to support successful project execution.

** Qualifications*
* + High School diploma or GED required

+ 5+ years of experience in construction engineering design

+ Two-year certificate from college or technical school in related course work or applicable field experience preferred - NICET Level II Certification for Fire Protection

+ Knowledge of zone layout and design principles, including preparation of drawings, calculations, and material submittals.

+ Good communication skills for providing project status and issues to managers and stakeholders

+ Strong attention to detail, demonstrated through quality submittals, fabrication drawings, and surveys.

+ Proficient knowledge of design software platforms including Auto Sprink, Auto Cad, NAVIS and REVIT

** Pay:
** Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Virginia this ranges from $99,427- $117,504 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
