Responsibilities- Evaluate and underwrite all mortgage loan types offered by the Credit Union according to state and federal requirements.
- Analyze loan documentation and make loan decisions based on credit risk and established guidelines.
- Make judgements on issues and recommend solutions.
- Underwrite VA, FHA and Conventional loans.
- Analyze credit reports and determine loan eligibility.
- Review and recommend alternative mortgage products for exceptions or rejections.
- Approve mortgage loans and authorize loan disbursement after complete analysis.
- Mentor Mortgage Processors, Closers, and Loan Officers as needed.
- Assist in maintaining the online manual for underwriting guidelines.
- Assess property marketability and collateral sufficiency.
- Determine asset requirements to close the loan and compliance with investor needs.
- Perform secondary reviews of suspended or declined loans.
- Use basic research and document review to ensure compliance with NCUA, USPAP, and other regulations.
- Review contract factors such as age limits and HOA restrictions.
- Collaborate with loan originators and processors to obtain complete data.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- 1–3+ years of recent mortgage underwriting experience.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Computer literacy and strong data entry skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Vienna, VA (Hybrid schedule – 2 days onsite per week). Full‑time, 40 hours per week. Monday–Friday 8:00 am–4:30 pm CST. Training hours (first 3 weeks) Monday–Friday 7:30 am–4:00 pm CST.
Compensation$29.07–$39.93 per hour, based on experience.
