Jail Officer - Background Investigator

Riverside Regional Jail is seeking a full-time Jail Officer to provide custody/control of inmates.

Duties include:

Conducting preliminary and full background investigations on potential employees of the Riverside Regional Jail Authority and/or Contractual Employees. Completing background checks on all, visitors, volunteers and interns to include annual checks on all active volunteers. Entering data into the IAPro software program. Completing annual DMV checks on Transportation Staff. Conducting preliminary background checks on all promotional applicants and conducting facility investigations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. and a valid Virginia driver’s license. Incumbent must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18-years of age, as well as be able to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts. Incumbent must not have been convicted of a felony. Experience in a Jail or corrections facility with a public, private, or military agency preferred but not required.

No past or present investigations or disciplinary actions involving the following:
INTEGRITY, DISCRETION, IMPARTIALITY, AND ATTENDANCE. High ethical standards and must be able to work independently and handle sensitive matters with little to no supervision.

Salary: $58,000 – $84,973
