Job Summary:
Works in concert with radiologists to obtain high quality images and provide exceptional patient care.
- Explain the procedure and post-procedure orders to the patient to gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.
- Prioritize workflow in regard to patient condition and ensure patients’ arrival and departure occur in a timely manner.
- Provide an atmosphere conducive to gain the patient's cooperation and confidence.
- Utilize data from patient satisfaction and practice performance results to identify opportunities to improve and participate in the planning and improvement process.
- Follow and support OSHA regulations and use universal precautions when required.
- Cleans examination surfaces between patients.
- Provide clean linen including sheets, gowns, pillowcases, and towels.
- Immediately clean spills following universal precautions.
- Properly store accessory equipment when not in use.
- Work within a team to achieve patient and team goals.
- Share and initiate regular and professional communication with co-workers.
- Facilitate and participate in regular staff meetings.
- Follow routine standards and properly and safely manipulate equipment, within its limitations, to obtain images.
- Maintain sterile equipment and fields.
- Adjust cameras to obtain the proper density and contrast.
- Perform any necessary warm-up and quality control procedures on the equipment.
- Use protocols to obtain images of internal structures.
- Critique images for quality and make necessary judgments to determine if a repeat is necessary.
- Education: High School Diploma and successful completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Program.
- Experience: 2 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
- Licensure: Registry eligible; obtain registry, ARRT-N and/or NMTCB within the first year of employment.
- Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Ability to complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Good communication skills. Working knowledge of nuclear medicine equipment; able to adapt to various situations and procedures according to patient age. Ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s care needs by age.

Medium to Heavy Physical Demand. Standing for prolonged periods, frequent travel and overhead/repetitive reaching. Proficient communication, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and legibility. Lifts up to 100 lbs with Safe Handling Equipment for weights over 35 lbs. May be exposed to radiation.
