Environmental, Health and Safety Representative
Location:
Indian Head, MD. Salary range: $90,000–$120,000 per year.
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Representative is responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations across multiple construction sites. This role will proactively implement and enforce safety policies, conduct training, and perform site inspections to reduce workplace hazards and promote a culture of safety in the commercial drywall and general contracting industry
.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct daily job site visits, perform safety inspections and audits
- Assist EH&S director to conduct annual refresher training to all employees in the area of health, safety, environmental and other required aspects
- Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in all areas of safety
- Assist the EH&S Director in organizing and conducting bi‑monthly safety meetings
- Constantly ensure that safety protocols are followed by employees
- Develop a strong relationship with employees and facilitate employee‑led behavior‑based safety process in a team‑based environment
- Address any safety concerns with the EH&S director immediately
- Work collaboratively with field personnel to ensure workplace safety
- Assist with employee incident investigation to uncover root cause and track completion of corrective actions
- Perform other duties assigned

Other Responsibilities- Assist in developing and implementing site‑specific safety plans (SSSPs)
- Provide guidance on workers’ compensation claims and return‑to‑work programs
- Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Stay updated on industry best practices, new regulations, and emerging risks
- Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 (Construction Standards) and other applicable regulations
- Experience with accident prevention, hazard identification, and root cause analysis
- Must hold an OSHA‑30 Hour Construction Certification
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain)
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to train and influence employees at all levels
- Excellent organization and time‑management skills, flexibility, and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Must be a team player
- Ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms
- Ability to work independently across multiple sites while maintaining a strong safety presence
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and safety management software
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
This role does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands- Regularly required to stand, walk, climb ladders/scaffolding, and navigate uneven terrain
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Frequent travel to job sites across multiple states
- Full‑time position (40+ hours per week)
- Must be available for occasional nights, weekends, and emergency call‑outs as needed
- Frequent travel (50%) to multiple job sites across different states
- Some overnight travel required
Education and Experience
- High school diploma
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in the workplace environmental, health and safety program management
- Must be able to get a background check and drug test
Must be eligible to work in the United States. Some positions, based on contract stipulations, may require U.S. citizenship.
