Location: Tasley

This position is responsible for supervising the activities associated with daily warehouse operations, fleet maintenance, facilities and property management.

Objectives:
  • Ensure the Cooperative provides a safe workplace for its employees, all work is completed in a safe and efficient manner and members receive safe, reliable and high-quality electric service.
  • To require all Cooperative employees to comply with A & N Electric Cooperative Safety Rules Manual and all safety provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between the Cooperative and local 1307 IBEW and approved Cooperative policies and work procedures as related to safety.
  • To plan for safety, security and loss control measures that will protect the Cooperative’s physical plant, property and personnel.
  • To ensure that contract companies performing construction, maintenance, testing and other services, perform their work in a safe and efficient manner according to contract agreements and ensure that contract activities are performed in a manner as to promote and create good will toward the Cooperative.

  • Supervises:
    This position directly supervises warehouse personnel. This position manages and has direct oversight of all vendor activities relating to warehouse operations, fleet vehicle maintenances and repair, facilities maintenance and property management.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Warehouse

  • Prepares purchase requisitions, approves and issues purchase orders in accordance with company policy and negotiated terms and conditions.
  • Obtains material quotes and procures necessary material, including transformers, meters & other special equipment to meet system construction and maintenance requirements. Performs this function to meet material requirements for the ODEC Eastern Shore transmission system, as well.
  • Monitors materials usage and lead times to determine optimal inventory levels.
  • Obtains quotes and arranges for repair and/or retirement of apparatus including transformers, regulators, and circuit breakers.
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in receiving, transporting, stacking, order filling, shipping, and maintaining stock records in warehouse.

Facilities

  • Plans and oversees the maintenance of Cooperative buildings and grounds.
  • Assists in procurement and fiscal management activities associated with building and ground maintenance. This may include: RPFs and contracts; administering contracts; obtaining quotes and bids.
  • Trouble-shoots and responds to after-hour issues as needed regarding the operational aspects of the facilities such as HVAC issues, fire alarm malfunctions, water leaks, etc.
  • Recommends, plans and oversees facilities repairs and improvements, as well as renovation projects.
  • Procures office furniture and other items related to buildings and grounds operations and maintenance, as requested.

Fleet

  • Provides input in vendor contracts for purchasing vehicles and construction equipment, including all transportation equipment, for the Cooperative. Provides input to the specifications, bid analysis and purchase of new vehicles.
  • Coordinate all new vehicle inspections and reviews, as well as all communications between all vendors and A&N Electric Cooperative for new order and follow-up for all fleet purchases.

Property

  • Curates knowledge regarding real properties owned and/or leased by the Cooperative, such as lease agreements, contracts, deeds, titles, etc.

Job Related Qualifications

Specifications and Requirements:

Education:

Four-year degree with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from an accredited college or university preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. NRECA courses in supply chain management or equivalent may be considered.

Experience:

Five or more (5+) years of progressively responsible utility procurement, facilities management, construction and operation experience, including supervisory responsibility.

Job Knowledge:

Must have thorough knowledge of electric operations, construction, procurement and facilities management of a rural electric distribution cooperative. Must possess basic computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including, but not limited to:
Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint as required by job responsibilities. The incumbent will also become fluent in using information and resources provided by the Virginia Cooperative Council (VCC), the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives (VMDAEC) and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA).

Must be able to direct department staff in carrying out the responsibilities of the Procurement, Warehouse and Facilities Department.
