Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operates pools and equipment in accordance with all state and local bathing code provisions and arrange for immediate corrections of any violation found during periodic inspections by appropriate authorities.
- Develops and implements a full range of aquatic programs to meet the needs of the membership and the surrounding community, including innovative means of serving the underserved and underprivileged segments of the community. Programs to consist of swim lessons, group exercise programs, community partnership programs, physical therapy rehab providers, etc.
- Selects, trains, evaluates, and retains staff to provide appropriate services to the community as lifeguards, swim instructors, and coaches.
- Enforces all personnel policies and guidelines in accordance with JRSSC policies.
- Conducts annual reviews for all aquatic staff and suggests salary increments to the appropriate supervisor.
- Acts as a representative for all aquatic staff and issues at JRSSC management team meetings.
- Teaches swim lessons and lifeguards on an as needed basis.
- Contributes to the membership development and retention of JRSSC members, placing the needs of the members as a key priority at all times.
- Participates as a vital part of the JRSSC Management team to provide exemplary services to the community. This includes sharing responsibility as the building supervisor (MOD) as necessary, participation in special events, fundraising campaigns, and shared leadership duties as assigned periodically.
- May be called upon to represent JRSSC at external stakeholder meetings.
- Develops department budget and provides daily, weekly, and monthly monitoring of department finances.
- Provides information to supervisor, as required, to complete monitoring of monthly financial performance.

- Strong fitness knowledge and experience developing programs and working with people of varying ages and backgrounds.
- Knowledge of pool filtration system, rescue equipment, computer and office equipment.
- Ability to manage and operate Hytek Meet Manager software, and operate Colorado Timing System (CTS) to include the managing the date of the swim meets and/or competitions and entering it into the meet management system, test and troubleshoot the CTS, and perform preventative and restorative maintenance to the CTS.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed, required, or assigned by the General Manager
- Supervises a total of 20-30 lifeguards.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with JRSSC’s policies and applicable laws including:
- Training employees
- Planning, assigning, and directing work
- Appraising performance
- Rewarding employees
- Counseling employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems

Education and/or
Experience:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language
Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents in English. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Proficiency in other languages is a plus.
Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
