PositionSummary
Tanaq is seeking a Senior UXO Supervisor (SUXOS) to provide UXO support to a Vegetation and Target Management Services project at Fort Anderson‑Pinn‑Hill (A.P. Hill), VA. The role involves target removal/replacement in areas with known or suspected Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC) and Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH). Robotic technologies will be employed unless site conditions preclude their use.
The position is temporary, 100% onsite, and contingent on contract award.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all on‑site munitions response and operational range clearance or target removal activities.
- Oversee the development and implementation of QC processes, from "plan‑do‑check‑act" through final review.
- Lead and work closely with the UXOSO/QCS to ensure inspections and corrective actions are conducted in accordance with the QASP, and all work is performed within the government's core duty hours.
- Ensure Anomaly Avoidance techniques are implemented for all activities, including surveying, sampling, and installations, in accordance with approved site plans.
- Coordinate activities with robotic operators, supervise all UXO activities, and ensure safe target transport, inspection, and certification, using DD Form 1348‑1A.
- Establish non‑MEC work areas, conduct magnetometer‑assisted searches, and coordinate with Range Control and EOD response.
- Set up command posts, maintenance trailers, and target staging areas; maintain reliable radio communications.
- Review all field reports, prepare daily reports, and ensure compliance with Dept. of the Army, DoD SOPs, and all applicable regulations.
- Ensure all UXO team members attend required briefings, sign Hold‑Harmless Agreements, receive 3
Rs safety training, and meet DoD Explosives Safety Board TP‑18 qualifications. - Ensure subcontractors and suppliers follow Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Safety and Health Program requirements.
- Must be able to meet the criteria for UXO‑TIII, UX‑OQCS, and UXOSO roles.
- Meet Qualified Personnel requirements as outlined in DoD Explosive Safety Board (DDESB) TP‑18.
- Graduate of military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) school with minimum 10 years of military EOD or commercial UXO experience, including 1 year of MEC‑Supervisory Experience, or equivalent certification with 13 years of combined experience.
- Valid driver’s license (HAZMAT endorsement preferred).
- Pass a pre‑employment drug screen, physical, and OSHA physical.
- Obtain DOJ‑ATFE Employee Possessors clearance and a background check.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Maintain government clearance and access to client site.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
- Minimum high‑school diploma or GED.
- Must meet Qualified Personnel requirements as outlined in DoD Explosive Safety Board (DDESB) TP‑18 and OSHA 29 CFR .
- 8‑hour HAZWOPER Supervisor certificate.
- 10‑hour OSHA Construction Safety and Health Training and Labor Construction Safety Course Completion Card.
- OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER training with current 8‑hour annual refresher.
- Appropriate level of Supervisor training and certification.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds; stand, bend, kneel, and walk for extended periods over rough terrain.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, heat, cold, humidity, dust, and noise.
