Position Title: Manufacturing Engineer – CNC Operations
Business Unit: Gala Industries, Inc.
Position Type: Full-time
Your MissionAs a Manufacturing Engineer, you will:
- Develop high-quality CNC programs that ensure accuracy and timely delivery.
- Identify and implement process improvements to support a first-time-right manufacturing strategy.
- Lead and mentor the programming team while fostering collaboration with design and manufacturing operations.
Safety:
- Work safely and efficiently, understanding and mitigating safety risks.
Technical:
- Create, edit, and optimize NC programs.
- Calculate speed/feed data to balance tool life and productivity.
- Design and build machining fixtures as needed.
Standard Work:
- Develop and maintain standard tooling and machining operations.
- Produce detailed setup sheets and documentation for shop floor operations.
Strategy:
- Evaluate components for potential in sourcing and cost reduction.
- Participate in CAPEX planning for new equipment.
Team Collaboration:
- Lead the programming team and establish strong relationships with machine operators.
- Work closely with design engineering to provide feedback on manufacturability.
This role involves both office and machine shop environments. You may encounter airborne particles, metal shavings, and moving mechanical parts, so PPE and hearing protection are required on the shop floor.
Physical RequirementsThis position requires sitting at a PC for extended periods, along with some walking and standing.
QualificationsEducation:
- Mandatory: High School diploma or equivalent; 4-year BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Desirable: Machinist/Tool Maker apprenticeship; CAD certification (Solid
WORKS, Auto Desk).
Professional Experience:
- Mandatory: 5+ years of CNC programming experience; proficiency in CAD/CAM software.
- Desirable: Experience with manual lathes, ERP software, and machining superalloys.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Highly organized and proactive.
- Strong team player with a commitment to quality.
This is an onsite position, allowing you to collaborate closely with your team and contribute to our success.
