Intern: Communications

This intern role provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment and to support/promote the graduate's career goals through contact with professionals in their field of study.

The intern experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Volvo Group by working on important and innovative projects. The internship allows students to integrate knowledge and skills in a manner that is mutually beneficial to the student and Volvo Group.

• Supporting plant objectives in creation of videos, articles and materials – with validation of information through interaction with employees and Communications Team.
• Build on campaigns with creative writing, videography and photography to support journey to engage and create sense of Volvo Family
• Collaborate with Communications team, business teams and plant personal to accent/inspire positive Volvo cultural for better business results.
• Create and optimize engaging content by assisting, developing and creating media content
• Utilize Micro Soft bundles:
  Indesign, production software, basic knowledge of systems including PCs, photography, video and plasmas, printing and production of signs and banners.

• Excellent communication skills, including writing, proofreading skills, and speaking.
• Ability to utilize photography, videography and to produce video for inhouse and social media.
• Ability to tailor communication style based on the platform and audience
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments
• Excellent interpersonal skills with high professionalism
• Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision
• Proficient using the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
• Working knowledge of professional Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linked In, and You Tube accounts, including advertising opportunities
• Basic knowledge of Photoshop and/or Canva preferred, but not required

Minimum

Education Requirements:

• Applicants must be pursuing a business, marketing, or communication degree at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship program.
• Minimum GPA of 2.75.
• Spring interns may work up to 30 hours per week

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $17.00 - $46.00. The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
