We’re currently seeking a Safety Director for a growing specialty construction company in the Alexandria/Fairfax area. The role is open to hybrid working, but preferably on site.

This is a leadership role where you’ll have the chance to shape and drive the safety culture across multiple large, complex commercial, mixed-use, residential, and institutional projects.

• Develop and implement Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) policies and strategy.
• Lead site inspections, audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
• Drive safety training programmes for both field and office teams, as well as subcontractors.
• Partner with project teams and leadership to ensure safety is embedded in every phase of work.
• Monitor safety metrics, KPIs, incidents, and near-misses, recommending improvements.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and regional safety requirements.

• Proven experience in construction safety leadership (Safety Manager / Director / Head of Safety), ideally in specialty contracting, drywall, or finishing trades.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA and regional safety requirements.
• Experience delivering safety training and managing incidents, audits, and corrective actions.
• Excellent communication skills, able to influence teams from field crews to senior leadership.
• Relevant certifications (CSP, CHST, OSHA-30) are a plus.
