Assistant Professor and Physician Lead – UVA Employee Primary Care

Assistant Professor and Physician Lead – UVA Employee Primary Care is a faculty and clinical leadership role  incumbent will serve as the Family Medicine physician lead/medical director for a new Employee Primary Care clinic in the Multi‑Story building on UVA grounds. This clinic will provide comprehensive in‑person and virtual health services for UVA and UVA Health employees and depends on a self‑insured health plan covering a large employee population.

The position’s focus includes controlling healthcare costs, improving outcomes, and retaining high‑quality employees.

The successful candidate will:

• Provide direct patient care in 7 half‑day outpatient sessions per week.
• Teach and supervise family medicine residents and medical students.
• Act as clinician‑leader, setting a vision for quality improvement and guiding the care delivered.
• Serve as an operations consultant, addressing day‑to‑day organizational functions.
• Supervise and consult with Advanced Practice Providers at the site.

• Medical degree (MD or DO) with board‑certification or board‑eligibility in Family Medicine (American Board of Family Medicine or American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians) by the start date.
• Preference for candidates with experience practicing obstetrics, caring for hospitalized patients, procedural or POCUS skills, residency teaching experience, or a completed fellowship in family medicine.
• Demonstrated commitment to team‑based care, evidence‑informed decision making, and inclusive patient populations (e.g., refugees, immigrants, global health, gender medicine).
