Job Description

Mountain Gateway Community College (MGCC) is a two-year public institution of higher education and one of 23 community colleges in Virginia. The college is supported by the Commonwealth of Virginia; the counties of Alleghany, Bath, Botetourt (northern portion) and Rockbridge; the cities of Buena Vista, Covington, and Lexington; and the town of Clifton Forge. MGCC provides opportunities for the extension of knowledge, skills and personal enrichment in an environment that maintains high academic standards and respect for each individual.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach Health 100 in accordance with the approved course syllabus and learning outcomes
  • Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, discussions, and instructional activities
  • Assess student learning through assignments, exams, and other evaluation methods
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and grades
  • Provide timely feedback to students and support student success
  • Hold office hours or provide availability for student consultation
  • Comply with all College policies, procedures, and accreditation standards
Minimum Qualifications
  • EMT certification and CPR Instructor Certified
  • 2+ years of experience in EMS education or related field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
Additional Considerations
  • 1-year teaching experience
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to travel
