Substitutes at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School; Henrico

Overview

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Henrico, VA is seeking an enthusiastic individual who would be available to work a flexible as-needed schedule for the  school year.

By nature of the position, sometimes very little notice is given of when a substitute is needed. We will make every attempt to give as much notice as possible when asking for someone to fill in for the regular teacher, but there are times when emergencies occur and the request for assistance will be a quick turnaround and/or early in the morning.

A substitute teacher provides instruction to all students by following the lesson plans created by the full-time teacher. The substitute must be flexible and enjoy working with children. They will follow lesson plans which align with the Consensus Curriculum of the Diocese of Richmond. The substitute teacher reports to the Assistant Principal of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School and will work cooperatively with other faculty and staff.

• Required:
  
  Successful candidates must complete background screening requirements and have at least a high school diploma. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Desired qualities include flexibility, reliability, good communication and organizational skills, enjoyment of working with children, enthusiasm, patience and kindness. Experience in an educational setting is preferred but not required.

Physical demands may include sitting, standing, reaching, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and moving light furniture. The position requires active participation in the classroom environment which may include prolonged physical activity.
