Brief Position Overview
The Department of History and Philosophy seeks course instructors in the disciplines of philosophy on an as needed basis.

- Generally, instructors teach introductory-level courses in philosophy.
- Occasionally, instructors teach upper-division courses in the same fields.
- Courses available vary from one semester to the next, depending on need and funding.
- Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Philosophy or related field, with academic background commensurate with teaching in the discipline.
- Demonstrated experience working with and engaging diverse students and colleagues within and outside the department.
- Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- Terminal degree in appropriate field.
- Previous teaching experience in similar courses.
- Demonstrated commitment to student, faculty, and staff diversity.
- Have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Have effective interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate successfully with faculty, staff, and students.
- Demonstrate the ability to relate to and establish rapport with a college student population.
- Exercise good judgment and self-motivation.
- Maintain confidentiality of records and information.
- Possess strong interest in student success.
- Be committed to quality teaching.

Appointments are on a part-time basis and vary in duration, from a couple weeks to an academic year, depending on department needs. Salary is dependent on number of courses taught and duration.
