Assistant Boys’ Cross Country – Fall Season (School Year 2025 – 2026)
Henrico County Public Schools, Freeman High School, Henrico, VA.

Develop principles of fair play, confidence, self‑discipline, and cross‑country skills through interscholastic competition.

• Organize the overall cross‑country program.
• Prepare players physically and mentally for interscholastic competition through practice, teaching of fundamental skills, and knowledge of rules.
• Check eligibility forms and submit to the Student Activities Director.
• Ensure all physical and academic requirements are met by each player and submit such information to the Student Activities Director to establish the VHSL eligibility list.
• Supervise the cleaning, storage, and proper care of all equipment.
• Requisition supplies, uniforms, and all necessary equipment through the Student Activities Director.
• Foster good school‑community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic program.
• Conduct pre‑season meetings with parents.
• Prepare daily practice schedule and conduct practice sessions.
• Attend all VHSL clinics.
• Follow county financial policies concerning the collection and receipt of funds.

• Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a public‑school cross‑country program.
• Proven ability to coordinate high‑level practice sessions for multiple track athletes simultaneously.
• Ability to recruit, retain, and coordinate the efforts of an assistant coaching staff.
• Proven ability to provide exceptional leadership and coaching for student‑athletes during regional and state competitions.
• Prior experience in preparing athletes for interscholastic competitions.
• Prior experience in managing team fundraising efforts.
