Lead Structural Engineer - Nuclear

Job Summary

Project Lead Structural Engineer – onsite support at Surry Nuclear Power Station. Provide leadership of a team of structural engineers, interface with clients and cross‑disciplinary engineers, and manage a variety of exciting projects in the nuclear power industry.

• Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, and design of steel, concrete, and reinforced concrete systems to execute assigned tasks.
• Work on a wide range of projects for various clients, supporting them as required.
• Direct the preparation and review of design calculations, specifications, reports, and other deliverables; support designers in drawing development.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff to ensure quality engineering deliverables.
• Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations using advanced computer tools.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews, plant site visits, construction coordination, and field verification of designs.

• BS in Civil Engineering (Structural) from an ABET‑accredited program.
• Ten or more years of experience in the design and analysis of industrial, heavy commercial, or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP
  2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• MS in Civil Engineering (Structural).
• On‑site construction support experience.
• PE or SE license.
