OUR MISSION

To tackle the growing e-waste problem, Molg enables circular manufacturing with robotics and design. Its robotic microfactories can autonomously disassemble complex electronic products, and the team partners with leading manufacturers to design electronics with reuse in mind — ensuring one product’s end is another’s new beginning.

Molg builds robotics microfactories and software to autonomously assemble and disassemble complex electronic products like laptop PCs, servers, and battery packs. Working with some of the leading computer + server manufacturers as well as industrial companies like ABB and Stanley Black and Decker, we are building the circular manufacturing technology to recover existing in-market devices for reuse and recycling as well as helping develop the next generation of circular-focused devices at the design level.

IN

THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

Work with a talented cross-functional team to design (and redesign) electronics products with circularity and automated re-x in mind. • Supporting and leading the design of electronic products using CAD software and 3D modeling.

  • Advising on the redesign of in-market products to help companies meet their goals for greater circularity and modularity.

  • Understanding client requirements and creatively meeting their needs while developing more circular and sustainable designs.

  • Interfacing and collaborating with clients on design projects.

  • Supervising a team of junior designers and allocating effort efficiently.

  • Providing mentorship and training to junior designers as required.

  • Collaborating with mechanical, electric, and robotics engineers on product design to ensure manufacturability and automation friendly design.

  • Prototyping and testing products.

  • Validating product manufacturability to client specifications.

  • Providing the first layer of quality control for junior product designer work.

WHO YOU ARE:
  • 3+ years of professional experience in consumer products design; consumer electronics product design preferred.

  • Experience using CAD software to design products; knowledge of Fusion
    360 preferred.

  • Experience designing products for manufacturability, automation, and sustainable and durable materials selection.

  • Experience working on electrical integration in product design is greatly preferred.

  • Desire to gain expertise in circular design principles and to design products with automated re-x in mind.

  • Interest in sustainability and circularity, particularly related to electronics manufacturing and e-waste reduction.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in English, both verbally and in writing.

  • Unsponsored right to work in the United States

WHO WE ARE:

We spend our days building robotic systems, developing complex assembly intelligence software, and designing the next generation of circular products for our customers. Given the importance of working hands-on with physical systems, we are a 100% in-person team collaboratively working in our industrial space in Sterling, VA. Our facility includes a variety of robots, CNC milling machines, 3D printers, and all the tools needed to build and test our products.

It is important to us that anyone on our team that is interested in learning how to use our various pieces of equipment and machinery is taught and can gain the skills and appreciation for making physical things.

THINGS TO KNOW:
  • We’re a small collaborative team with big ambitions, and there’s a good amount of context-switching. We expect people to be autonomous and drive their own work to completion.

  • We are a profitable business that is primarily funded from customer revenue, which means we are scrappy and looking to build a great sustainable company for years to come.

  • As a growing company and startup, priorities may shift as customer or business requirements change. We strive to empower individuals with context and decision-making power to meet this need.
