POSITION SUMMARY:
Are you passionate about managing large and complex construction projects, mentoring others, and prioritizing safety? My client has an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Project Executive. In this role, you will oversee multi-million-dollar industrial commercial MEP projects while nurturing future project managers and leaders.
You can choose to become a traveling Project Executive, working on-site during the week and traveling home on weekends, or take advantage of a relocation package for the right candidate who is ready for a new adventure. This position not only provides a unique professional experience but also offers the chance to explore a new city and meet new people!
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee large construction projects or lead a team managing multiple projects, serving as the company's senior representative and primary contact.
- Provide leadership to the project team by identifying and delegating responsibilities and effectively mentoring team members.
- Implement lean tools (such as A3 development, choosing by advantages, 5-why) and Last Planner System sessions.
- Quickly learn and teach new lean concepts and processes.
- Coordinate design, trades, and subcontractor interactions.
- Apply policies and procedures to make informed decisions and manage project issues.
- Develop and implement systems and strategies for continuous improvement of project team performance.
- Develop "Customers for Life" by building a loyal client base and assisting in future project procurement.
- Support the Sales team in project pursuits through presentations, estimate input, and client interaction.
- Consistently update clients with job-related information and project status.
- Manage critical project functions, including equipment selection and subcontractor procurement.
- Conduct budget analysis, cost and revenue projections, manpower curves, change orders, and construction plans.
- Effectively negotiate and manage contract change orders, addressing any cost-impact issues.
- Understand, support, and execute Connected Solutions strategies.
- Lead monthly project reviews presented to division leadership.
- Participate in industry organizations such as DBIA, LCI, CPMCA, ASHRAE, ASPE.
- Take ownership of the contract and mentor the team in understanding and working within its scope.
Qualifications for Success:
- Proven track record of managing large projects or multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to train and develop effective project teams.
- Skilled in proactive project planning and driving successful outcomes.
- Experience leading preconstruction activities on major projects.
- Ability to perform value engineering analyses.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering systems, including HVAC and Plumbing, related to large-scale construction.
- Competence in estimating large projects in fast-paced and demanding environments.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with all management levels, presenting proposals, and delivering sales presentations.
- Proven leadership skills to instill a sense of urgency within the project team.
- Results-oriented approach and personal skill set.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field, or 15-20 years in Construction Management.
- Experience managing large Guaranteed Maximum Price projects.
- Proficiency in common software, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation such as CAD drawings, blueprints, and submittals.
