The Field Engineer is responsible for the implementation of complex communication system infrastructure and technical support of specialized sub‑systems and product applications. This includes troubleshooting software‑driven electronics, IP networks, server and network hardware, and performance verification and optimization of RF and broadband architecture including legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data infrastructure. The group’s main business is the implementation of mission‑critical digital mobile communication systems for Government & Public Safety Communications customers.

Responsibilities include:

• Team with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales personnel to effectively design, implement, optimize, test, cutover, and document advanced communication systems that meet or exceed customer expectations
• Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments
• Utilize system design drawings, planners, and product documentation to oversee the onsite installation of network, server, and RF equipment, and provide as‑built information for the final system documentation package
• Utilize network design tools, formalized process documents, and customer input to perform onsite and remote configuration of network, server, RF, and databases, providing as‑configured documentation and baseline reports
• Utilize system logs and tools to perform onsite and remote troubleshooting of networks, servers, databases, and RF infrastructure, verifying that system logs and event monitoring applications are clear of any faults
• Utilize product and system test plans to perform acceptance testing. Correct deficiencies found during testing and provide accepted test results for the final system documentation package
• Utilize product specifications, FCC license data, and design parameters to perform performance verification/optimization of advanced digital and legacy analog RF infrastructure, providing baseline measurement data and accepted test results for the final system documentation package
• Utilize project design drawings and customer current system information to design/develop solutions to difficult technical issues encountered during system implementation, upgrades, or support issues
• Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with a focus on trend analysis and documentation of results

• Unique combinations of multi‑site RF communications systems and computer/networking skills are required
• Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN IP networks; proficiency in computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance of systems including cabling, routers, switches, and firewalls
• Experience with installation, administration, and troubleshooting of:
  • Server virtualization: VMWare ESXi v.6+ and/or Microsoft Hyper‑V 2012+
  • Server operating systems:
    Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2, and 2019
  • Workstation operating systems:
    Windows 7 & 10
  • Switches, routers, firewalls: HP and Juniper
• Knowledge of secure products/protocols (KMF, KVL, AES)
• Knowledge of RF systems, including transmitters, receivers, filters, and antenna networks
• Experience working on Project‑25 products (trunked and conventional)
• Demonstrated systems experience with:
  • Motorola base stations (Quantar, G‑Series)
  • Motorola consoles (MCC
    7500, AXS)
  • Astro‑25 Master Site equipment
  • Astro‑25 Multisite and ASR equipment
  • Channel banks and T1 circuits
