Senior Principal SATCOM and RAN Architect
A leading space communications company is developing a global cellular broadband network that connects standard mobile devices directly through space‑based infrastructure. They are looking for a Senior Principal SATCOM and RAN Architect to design next‑generation tactical communication systems for defense customers.
Role OverviewYou will architect hybrid communication networks that link satellite systems with terrestrial tactical technologies such as 5G RAN and mesh radios. This position suits someone with deep SATCOM expertise, strong RAN knowledge, and experience designing resilient communication systems for contested environments.
Key Responsibilities- Design end‑to‑end tactical communication architectures integrating satellite backhaul with terrestrial networks.
- Lead waveform, protocol, and network optimisation for secure, low‑latency performance.
- Act as the technical authority during customer engagements and technical reviews.
- Guide engineering teams on design, algorithms, and hardware or software integration.
- Perform system‑level modelling including link budgets, RF analysis, and interference studies.
- Support open architecture adoption such as Open RAN.
- Contribute to RFI and RFP responses.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, with a preference for advanced degrees.
- Ten plus years in tactical communications, RF, or SATCOM systems architecture.
- Expertise in military SATCOM systems such as MUOS or WGS.
- Strong background in 5G, RAN, MANET, and SDR technologies.
- Active US Security Clearance.
Strong collaboration skills, excellent communication, and the ability to lead complex technical discussions.
