Civil Project Manager/Senior Project Manager - Land Development Job Description
Timmons Group is currently seeking a Civil Project Manager/Senior Project Manager candidate to join our Land Development Group located in our Prince George, VA office location.
Projects range from multi-family and mixed-use developments, market rate apartment communities, large‑scale commercial, industrial and distribution projects, to public land development projects such as schools, jails, fire stations and parks.
We assist our clients with zoning entitlements, civil site plan approvals, and construction administration support. Project engineers typically work in a team of 2–3 design engineers and a project manager to bring our client’s vision to life, fostering teamwork, diverse training opportunities, and ownership of project outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Design portions of a project using relevant office software, modeling, and Civil 3D technology.
- Complete calculations using engineering formulas and computer software to solve problems.
- Prepare specification materials through research and manufacturing catalogs to specify items, installation, inspection, and payment.
- Work to complete design details and plan sets.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates.
- Communicate with clients, staff, and internal design teams.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related scientific field, or equivalent experience.
- Professional registration (P.E., L.S., etc.) in one or more states where Timmons Group conducts business is preferred.
- Ideal candidates will have 6+ years of experience in civil engineering related to residential land development projects.
- Must have a thorough understanding of project accounting and demonstrated ability to manage schedules and budgets for multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in marketing and supervising the technical work of others.
- Working knowledge of technical and office support software required for the position.
- Effective communication skills for daily task completion.
- Willingness to help others meet critical deadlines.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
