The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for ensuring that the manufacturing capability is in place and aligned to support overall business needs and strategies. This includes: cost, product quality, safety and environmental requirements, along with functional management of production from the receipt of raw materials to the finished product.
Additionally, the position is responsible for supervising, coordinating, planning, and facilitating work related to process engineering. This position is also responsible for day to day technical support and product development support for phosphoric acid and sodium/potassium phosphates, as well as process engineering support as requested for capital projects.
Process engineering responsibilities include technical troubleshooting of process related issues and problems, knowledge transfer to less experienced personnel, and support for process improvements and new product developments. The process engineering function includes supporting the project engineering group needs for planning, estimating, developing and implementing capital project improvements with appropriate cost controls. Process Engineering also provides day to day technical support for operations and maintenance functions.
QualificationsEducation
- Bachelors in Engineering Preferably Chemical Engineering and/or Registered Professional Engineer
- A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in plant engineering with a manufacturing facility and with supervisory experience. Preferably 10 years of progressively responsible experience appropriate to the position in plant and process engineering with a manufacturing facility and / or Manufacturing or Engineering experience with at least 5 years experience in sodium, calcium or potassium phosphates, and work experience in environmental, safety and health including process safety.
- Understanding sodium, calcium or potassium phosphates would be considered crucial to successfully performing the job, as would work experience in basic environmental, safety and health including process safety related to a chemical manufacturing facility.
- Process engineering function requires a working understanding of phosphate manufacturing operations and technical troubleshooting skills including a knowledge of chemistry, mechanical skills, basic electrical and instrumentation skills, distributed and PLC process control systems, material science relevant to phosphates, PFD and EFD drawings, project management, and unit operations.
Reading/comprehension, speaking and writing at required education equivalency level. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business correspondence, technical/product information, policies/procedures or government regulations. Ability to complete written forms and write routine to complex procedures, reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in a group or individual setting.
Mathematical SkillsRequires mathematical skills including proficiency in arithmetic, geometry and algebra, with some requirements for calculus and differential equations. Must be able to analyze data and develop equations. Must be able to read and understand financial information.
Computer SkillsProficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Electronic Mail.
Proficiency in relevant SAP modules preferred and working knowledge of similar materials management software required.
ComplexityThe work includes varied duties requiring many different and unrelated processes and methods be applied to a broad range of activities and/or substantial depth of analysis within a particular area. Decisions include areas of uncertainty in approach, methodology, interpretation or evaluation resulting from such elements as continuing changes, technical developments, unknown phenomena or conflicting requirements. The work requires originating new techniques, establishing criteria, or developing new information.
To maintain and encourage compliance this position requires a familiarity with basic ESH requirements relevant to a chemical manufacturing facility. Process engineering function requires a working understanding of phosphate manufacturing operations and technical troubleshooting skills including a knowledge of chemistry, mechanical skills, basic electrical and instrumentation skills, distributed and PLC process control systems, material science related to phosphates, PFD and EFD drawings, project management, and unit operations.
