Description

Sargent & Lundy (S&L) is seeking a Project Manager to support Dominion Energy’s Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) and generator projects at Surry Nuclear Station. This position will provide on-site leadership and oversight for the execution of complex nuclear plant modifications, with primary emphasis on generator replacement and associated electrical equipment projects.

The role will coordinate S&L engineering, project management, procurement, vendors, contractors, construction, testing, and station stakeholders through the full project lifecycle. The successful candidate will help ensure that SLR and generator work is planned, designed, procured, installed, tested, documented, and turned over safely and in accordance with Dominion Energy requirements, S&L procedures, approved project baselines, nuclear quality standards, and applicable regulatory and industry expectations.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will:

  • Provide on-site construction and project oversight for SLR and generator replacement, AVR, exciter, relay protection, and related plant-modification projects.
  • Serve as a senior S&L field interface with Dominion Energy, station leadership, engineering, operations, maintenance, work management, outage planning, vendors, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Lead coordination of project execution from scope definition and design development through procurement, fabrication, installation, testing, turnover, and closeout.
  • Review project execution plans, construction plans, work packages, installation instructions, test plans, outage schedules, and readiness requirements.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering deliverables and confirm that design inputs, field conditions, constructability considerations, equipment interfaces, and installation requirements are understood before work begins.
  • Monitor contractor and vendor performance for nuclear safety, industrial safety, quality, schedule, staffing, productivity, material control, and compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Support generator and electrical equipment work involving heavy components, equipment removal and installation, cable routing, relay protection, AVR interfaces, testing, and system turnover.
  • Coordinate field activities with station operations, maintenance, engineering, radiation protection, security, work management, training, quality assurance, and outage organizations.
  • Conduct or support field walkdowns, constructability reviews, pre-job briefs, work readiness reviews, installation inspections, test readiness reviews, post-maintenance testing, and turnover reviews.
  • Track construction progress, project milestones, staffing, material status, field constraints, design issues, vendor deliverables, and outage commitments.
  • Maintain integrated project and construction schedules, including near-term work plans, critical-path activities, outage milestones, and recovery plans.
  • Identify and resolve issues affecting safety, nuclear quality, configuration control, cost, schedule, equipment function, or project scope.
  • Review and coordinate requests for information, design clarifications, field change requests, nonconformance reports, condition reports, corrective actions, and punch-list items.
  • Verify that work is performed using approved drawings, specifications, procedures, permits, work packages, and station controls.
  • Coordinate vendor site visits, equipment inspections, factory or pre-installation testing, field installation support, and final acceptance activities.
  • Provide clear daily, weekly, and monthly status reporting to Dominion Energy and S&L management, including risks, accomplishments, upcoming work, decisions, and required actions.
  • Support project controls activities, including schedule performance, progress measurement, cost forecasting, change management, invoice review, accruals, and variance resolution.
  • Confirm completion of as-built documentation, test records, turnover packages, equipment documentation, deficiency resolution, and project closeout requirements.
  • Promote a questioning attitude, strong nuclear safety culture, disciplined work execution, and continuous improvement across SLR and generator project teams.
