Senior Cost Accountant
The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for directing the general accounting, cost accounting, tax compliance, financial reporting, analysis, and inventory control in a standard cost manufacturing environment. Leads annual budgeting and forecasting processes. Other responsibilities include implementing and maintaining a system of internal controls ensuring company assets are adequately safeguarded and that financial reporting is prepared in compliance with all financial policies and US GAAP.
Evaluate proposed projects and initiatives for proper financial analysis and assist in strategic evaluation of same.
- Oversees standard costing methods, cost rolls and related polices, overhead calculations, overhead rate setting, variance reporting, variance analysis, and monthly reporting as required by Finance Director or President.
- Evaluate key accounting processes and procedures, identify gaps, design, and implement improvements in systems, processes, internal controls, and efficiencies as needed. Ensure all accounting processes are documented and maintained to follow company SOP and Document Control standards.
- Maintain accuracy of inventory and inventory valuations in ERP system. Oversee physical inventories.
- Conduct monthly close in a timely manner for the business group.
- Work directly with the President and Director of Accounting to provide and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities in a timely manner. Present financial data, and analyze data to highlight performance‑to‑budget variances, improvement opportunities, etc. Coordinate with external auditors and other applicable parties ensuring appropriate information and explanations are provided in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. Coordinate with Human Resources on the administration of inputs and approvals, payroll deductions for employee benefits including enrollments, invoice reconciliations, terminations, disability, worker’s compensation, COBRA, 401K and any other deductions that may impact employee’s payroll deductions.
- Support company KPIs development and reporting.
- Analyze customer financial condition and authorize customer credit lines while minimizing bad debt risks. Utilize D&B reports to make credit recommendations.
- Lead Continuous Improvement of key accounting processes including but not limited to ERP systems, month to month accounting operations, AP, Payroll, and Inventory.
- Monitor and maintain all financial terms in agreements and contracts.
- Fully participate in leading the company’s continuous improvement processes and adhere to all company procedures and policies.
