Resiliency Officer
The Resiliency Officer is a prevention and resource officer responsible for coordinating and providing resources to vulnerable citizens, including victims, survivors, offenders, and those at risk of victimization and becoming offenders.
This full‑time sworn law enforcement position is a non‑uniformed deputy. The King & Queen County Sheriff’s Office will provide the Resiliency Officer with a take‑home vehicle under the vehicle take‑home car policy.
Minimum Requirements- At least 21 years of age
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of law enforcement experience or a BS or BA degree
- Law enforcement certification
- Court security and civil process certifications
- Certification in crime scene investigation within 2 years of employment with the Sheriff’s Office
- Provide resources to victims of gun violence in the field
- Work collaboratively with the Victim Witness Coordinator
- Establish contacts and relationships with prevention agencies and rehabilitative agencies as assigned by the Sheriff
- Work closely with local and state probation officers and prisoner reentry agencies
- Respond on call as determined by the need in the county
- Follow up on resources and escort resource personnel to homes
- Transport victims during a crisis and to identified resources as needed
- Serve as a member of the Critical Incident Stress Management Team
- Be trained as a Crisis Intervention Team Member and Instructor
- Compile statistical data to demonstrate program success and set goals for continuous improvement
- Create programs, policies, and procedures to support the mission and goals
- Successfully complete Crime Prevention Specialist and Certified Crime Prevention community programs
- Sit or stand for long periods of time for 4 to 8 hours daily
- Manage high levels of stress for 8 to 12 hours daily
- Perform bending, reaching, climbing, and running daily
- Lift 0 to 25 pounds daily, 25 to 30 pounds often, and 50+ pounds occasionally
- Perform data entry and clerical work for 4 to 8 hours daily
- Manage inherent danger of potential daily risks during arrests using necessary and reasonable force
