Certified Surgical Technologist; CST - Labor and Delivery

Overview

Surgical Technologist - Labor and Delivery role providing essential assistance to healthcare professionals in delivering patient care and supporting clinical operations. Roles focus on preparation, performance, and post-operative support to surgical teams, including sterilization, instrument preparation and handling, and hands-on support during surgery. May work in hospitals, surgical centers, and clinics, with responsibilities from planning and preparation to recovery and follow-up.

Does not include Perioperative Nurses.

• Sterilization and instrument preparation and handling
• Provide operational or hands-on support required during surgery
• Support planning and preparation for procedures and assist in recovery and follow-up as needed

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduated from a surgical technologist training program accredited by CAHEEP/ABHES OR NCCT approved program.
• Experience: One year of experience required.
• Licensure: BLS required. Certified to practice as a Surgical Technologist by NBSTSA or NCCT required at start date. Current Registration with Virginia Board of Medicine required at time of hire.

Standing for prolonged periods; repetitive motion of passing instruments; lifting heavy instrument sets. Proficient communication, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and legibility. Ability to lift/push/pull >50-100 lbs. May be exposed to cold, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

Position Compensation Range: $22.39 - $35.82 Hourly
