Emergency Department (ED) Clinical Support Supervisor (Paramedic)

UVA Health’s Emergency Department is a Level 1 Trauma Center that ranks #1 hospital in Virginia. We’re seeking a licensed paramedic with proven leadership experience to oversee a dynamic team of ED Technicians and Paramedics and ensure seamless operations in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and mentor ED techs and paramedics to deliver exceptional patient care.
  • Coordinate workflows and maintain high standards in a Level 1 Trauma Center.
  • Foster collaboration with expert clinicians across comprehensive emergency services.
Qualifications
  • Licensed Paramedic with leadership experience.
  • Strong communicator and team motivator.
  • Passion for advancing emergency care in moments that matter most.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years as a medic level provider.
  • Certified as an EMT-Paramedic or EMT-Intermediate with the Virginia Department of Health/Office of Emergency Medical Services. Certification in Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) or equivalency. ACLS and BLS provider required (instructor certifications preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in Paramedic Preferred.
  • Previous Supervisory Experience Preferred. EMS experience in a dual volunteer/career system model preferred.
  • PALS NRP/STABLE ITLS/PHTLS provider preferred.
Physical Demands

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling, climbing (ladder, steps) and driving. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills;
Attention to detail and ability to write legibly;
Ability to lift/push/pull > 100lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, noise, outdoor climate, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

Compensation
  • The pay rate for this role starts at $63,939 annually. New hire compensation will be determined by education and experience.
Onboarding Requirements

Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen.
