The Clinical Program Coordinator, Clinical Pathways has the primary responsibility for coordinating the development and maintenance of an evidence-based approach to healthcare decision-making through the creation and maintenance of multidisciplinary Clinical Pathways. Pathways are Epic-integrated, multidisciplinary tools that incorporate best evidence and expert consensus, clinical decision support, integrated EHR ordering, and navigation and design in alignment with local operational procedures.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with University Medical Center and Health System leadership to manage the scope and implementation of the Clinical Pathways Program.
- Define the pathway development process and lead key stakeholders through the steps.
- Manage programmatic input and support institutional liaison with vendor partners/relationships for supporting software (e.g., Agile
MD). - Demonstrate strong communication skills using various mediums (verbal, e‑mail, presentation, etc.).
- Manage communication and expectations with various stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, IT teams, and other program participants.
- Serve as a liaison to adjacent health system governance entities to ensure appropriate use of Pathways in alignment with policy and regulatory standards.
- Foster harmonization of clinical Pathways with health system priorities, identifying sources of redundancy or lack of alignment in clinical/technical content between guidelines, order sets, and pathways.
- Assist with Pathway edits as necessary during the build process; act as a builder to design, validate, and test pathways as needed.
- Organize and maintain a governance committee to review and approve Clinical Pathways.
- Ensure regular review and prioritization of Pathway proposals, adherence to standard formatting and technical review procedures, and schedule reviews of existing/live pathways.
- Make recommendations for clarification, updates, or retirement of obsolete material to streamline content across platforms.
- Author and present programmatic updates to executive leadership in collaboration with the governance committee.
- Train and coach new authors on Agile principles and practices that align with UVA Health System standards.
- Roll‑out Clinical Pathways to clinical services and perform associated team member training and orientation.
- Provide guidance and support to staff and/or management on complex problems or challenges.
- Monitor the performance of pathways and provide regular reports to stakeholders.
- Monitor and analyze program and project-specific metrics and data outcomes; communicate to stakeholders and leadership as needed.
- Monitor pathway utilization and, in partnership with data analytics, assess the impact of the overall program and specific clinical pathways.
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing, physician assistant program with a master’s degree, or Bachelor’s in Pharmacy or Pharm. D. degree. - Experience:
3–5 years of healthcare experience with demonstrated leadership experience; project management experience preferred. - Epic proficiency required; proficiency with Epic building or related activities and/or Agile
MD proficiency preferred. - Licensure:
Must be licensed to practice in the State of Virginia.
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers and may require occasional travel. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull 20–50 lb.
CompensationPosition Compensation Range: $66,528.00 – $ Annual.
