General Surgery Access Lead
UVA Health is seeking a leader to manage the financial aspects of patient care, including billing, insurance claims, payment processing, financial counseling, utilization, and revenue cycle analysis. The role also supervises patient entry points such as scheduling, registration, and insurance verification to ensure a smooth, accurate administrative experience.
Responsibilities- Oversee daily financial operations for patient access.
- Ensure accurate scheduling, registration, and insurance verification.
- Analyze utilization data and revenue cycle performance.
- Provide coaching and training to lower‑level staff.
- Develop solutions to non‑routine problems and convey best practices to stakeholders.
- High School Graduate or equivalent;
Associate’s Degree preferred. - For internal candidates:
Demonstrated proficiency in Access Associate Senior role. - For external candidates: 3 years in a clinical setting (hospital, surgery center, or ambulatory clinic) in an administrative or clinical role.
- No license required;
Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) preferred.
- Proficient communication skills in spoken and written forms.
- Attention to detail, clear and concise written communication.
- Completed coursework or on‑job training in medical terminology, CPT coding, or anatomy.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities.
- Computer: MS Office and Epic.
- Physical: ability to sit for prolonged periods, lift/push/pull less than 20 lbs, exposure to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.

Position Compensation Range$15.68 – $31.36 hourly.
