EMT or AEMT - Emergency Medical Services (Medic V)
Responsible for performing emergency medical treatment communication and transport to the Medical Center. The EMT-Basic is an entry-level basic life support professional who is capable of functioning independently at the basic life support level but is still focused on gaining knowledge and experience.
- Assesses and treats ill and injured patients in accordance with local and University Protocols.
- Maintains safety as a primary role through out all aspects of care and transportation.
- Identifies potential areas for improved care.
- Interfaces effectively with peers and customers and assumes responsibility for professional development of self and others per department policy.
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Education:
High School Graduate or Equivalent required.
Experience:
None.
Licensure:
Certified as a Health Emergency Medical Technician in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Valid Driver’s License (VADL) and at least 2 years of driving experience required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. EVOC certification and be a released driver to transport patients required within 90 days of hire.
Physical Demands:
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling, climbing (ladder, steps), and driving. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills;
Attention to detail and ability to write legibly;
Ability to lift/push/pull > 100lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, noise, outdoor climate, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
Position Compensation Range: $16.31 - $25.28 Hourly
