Overview
Radiology Tech II - PRN - Downtown Outpatient
Location:
Adult Outpatient Pavilion
Days/hours:
Monday-Friday 7:30am–5:00pm (flexible), with the opportunity to pick up extra hours on evenings, nights and weekends at main campus and other satellite locations.
- Perform radiographic procedures and related techniques with accuracy in positioning and exposure to produce diagnostic-quality images for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner.
- Apply principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self; maintain radiation protection and safety standards.
- Receive, relay, and document imaging orders; verify and correlate patient history with the procedure; ensure documentation is available for the licensed independent practitioner.
- Prepare patients for procedures; assist and transport patients as needed; monitor for patient safety and comfort.
- Perform venipuncture and establish intravenous access per procedural protocol when imaging orders require contrast administration.
- Assess image quality, ensure proper patient identification and labeling; escalate emergency situations as needed and coordinate with appropriate medical teams.
- Educate patients about imaging procedures and provide ongoing patient education related to the imaging process.
- Educate, mentor, and provide general oversight for students and other learners in the Radiology environment.
- Participate in ongoing quality assurance activities and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Licensure/Certification:
Current Certification by ARRT (ARRT-R) required; registry must be in good standing. - New graduates:
Must pass certification exam within 90 days of graduation date. - Experience:
One (1) year of radiologic technologist work experience preferred; experience in an academic medical center environment is a plus. - Education:
Graduation from a JRC Accredited Program in Radiologic Technology recognized by ARRT;
Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or related field preferred. - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers required.
- Independence:
Ability to independently perform imaging exams based on physician orders, department protocols, and safety standards; potential to participate in lead technologist functions as assigned. - Physical/Mental:
Ability to handle the physical demands of radiologic procedures and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment; strong communication and problem-solving skills.
