Surgical Support Technician - Outpatient Surgery Center OR

Responsibilities- Sort and dispose of contaminated materials per hospital guidelines.
- Transport patients to and from surgery, providing comfort and reporting concerns as needed.
- Demonstrate infection control principles and aseptic techniques.
- Understand growth and development for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and elderly populations and normal aging processes.
- Work cooperatively with the surgical team.
- Competency in advanced level case assignment and equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
- Demonstrated knowledge of equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures and terminology.
- Communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail.
- Ensure readiness of assigned rooms: all equipment orientation, surfaces cleaned (non‑patient care duties), patient safety tasks such as cleaning surfaces and equipment in the OR.
- Housekeeping duties: collect and discard hospital waste using standard precautions and OSHA guidelines.
- Personal growth and development: clean area and keep stock in order.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. - Experience:
0 years (1 year preferred). - Licensure: BLS within 2 months of hire; CNA or EMT preferred.
- Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail; ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull 25‑50 lbs.; working in environment with fumes, chemicals, vibrations, heat, noise, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
$19.11 – $29.62 per hour
